Bed and breakfast & apartments in Bonn
Bonn is located on the river Rhine in the western German province of North Rhine-
Westphalia. From 1949 to 1990, during the Cold War, Bonn was the capital of West
Germany. Afterwards it became the seat of a unified German government, until the
national parliament moved back to Berlin in 1998. Bonn’s most prolific son is the
composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven. A monument for the artist stands on
the Münsterplatz, which is next to the Bonn Minster. Built between the 11th and
13th century, the Minster church is one of the oldest in Germany. In the centre of
the city visitors will find, in addition to a number of bed and breakfast, hotel and
apartment options for accommodation, the Museum Mile, which boasts the Haus
der Nature (House of Nature), the Kunstmuseum Bonn (Bonn Art Museum) and the
Heimatmeseum Beuel (Beuel Homeland Museum), which has Stone Age artefacts.
Bed and breakfast with Beethoven
Don’t visit Bonn without paying homage to one of the world’s best composers. There
are many bed and breakfasts and private apartments in the vicinity of the Beethoven
Haus or museum. Orchestral performances of the composer’s symphonies regularly
take place, and the museum houses the definitive history of the artist and his life. The
city is easily accessible from the local airport of Cologne-Bonn, which is located just
20km to the north.
