Growing Glasgow: the Arts and Cultural Centre
Glasgow offers plenty to those interested in art. Check out the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which is free to enter. There are a wide range of works of art on display, by legends of the art world such as Rembrandt and Dali, alongside historical pieces such as ancient Egyptian relics and suits of armour. There’s even a World War II Spitfire suspended from the ceiling. In terms of architecture, Charles Rennie Mackintosh is a name that will forever be associated with Glasgow. Mackintosh is to Glasgow what Gaudi is to Barcelona. Many of the buildings he designed are in the city centre, including the Glasgow School of Art – one of the architect’s most famous designs. Another must-visit is the Glasgow Science Centre, one of Scotland’s top tourist attractions and an icon for the city’s forward thinking image.
