Apartment in the Heart of Venice

We really had a great time in Venzia. Being located so well located, so close to the St Mark Square was obviously part of it. The appartment had all the necessary accomodation but our intent wasn't to spend much time there and indeed there was plenty enough to see outside. We found it a bit difficult to find a close by place to fill the fridge for the breakfast, but I suppose this is dus to the area being so touristic!

We arrived in thick snow! abd freezing weather, and waited 1/2 to be met! This 'loft' claims to accommodate up to 4 people, but was just about adequate for 2. There is a hanging cupboard with safe, and 3 small drawers to store clothes barely enough for one person let alone 2. We kept our clothes in the suitcase. Large wash room was nice. The fridge was the size of a minibar, inadequate. The 'kitchen' was inside a cupboard and consisted of a sink with shaky tap and only cold water, and 1/2 electric hob, no place to put dishes. Ustensils were minimal, Grazia and co. were friendly and amiable and met our requirements as they came up: for example a kettle, a toaster, a cafetiere, a corkscrew. There were no spatulas or kitchen knife. The appt was dark, electrics needed in daytime. The bed was quite good. There were a TV in every room which we could have done without. The street and neighbours were quite noisy. It felt more like camping in student accommodation than a fully equipped loft.

Venice was beautiful! The apartment was in a great location, just a stones throw away from the city center. On the downside, there was an excessive amount of street noise from partiers that kept us awake into the early hours of the morning. We had a great time though

Logement idéalement situé par contre le confort y est très moyen et l'équipement réduit à sa plus simple expression. La cuisine n'est qu'un placard dans lequel il est quasi impossible de cuisiner, une seule marmite pour y faire des pâtes à notre arrivée, fuite d'eau, les fauteuils sont cassés, le réfrigérateur n'est en fait qu'un mini bar. La propreté de la salle de bain est très douteuse.

Stayed with my three friends three days (end of October 2012) at this flat and we really enjoyed ourself. It is very close to Marcus-Square and all the other interesting sights of the city. The flat is divided into a bedroom (double bed, TV), bathroom and living room (TV, sofa can be converted into two separate beds, small kitchen). Shortly after our arrival (late evening) we were greeted by a friendly colleague of Grazia. He showed us around checked our passports and gave us tips to find a cheep restaurant. +) great location (we can recommend the bar right next to the flat - take care, it is expensive) +) tidy, clean and in good shape +) friendly and helpful staff +) in acqua-alta-zone - bring good shoes and have fun :) -) seems to have a little electricity problem sometimes - staff quickly responded with an easy "work-around" -) in acqua alta zone ;) -) windows should be replaced Thanks!

Al final no pudimos alquilar el apartamento sino una habitación con baño. Grazia nos hizo un descuento por este motivo y fue muy amable al atendernos en lo que le pedimos al llegar -no iba la tele, cosas así-). La habitación, ubicada en la misma dirección que el apartamento, está muy bien situada, yo diría que a 6 minutos andando de San Marco. La mayor parte de los días (excepto el último) había mucho silencio, lo que nos ayudó a dormir bien. Recomendable.

Wenn es Minuspunkte auch gibt, dann minus 5 Sterne. Der Email-Kontakt war sehr mühsam und kurzangebunden, sie hat trotz mehrfacher Nachfragen die Adresse nicht angegeben, sondern wollte uns am Vaporetto abholen. Dort haben wir dann eine Stunde gewartet, wieder angerufen, dann kam jemand anders. Grazia haben wir nie gesehen, obwohl sie am Telefon war. Dieses 'sehr schöne Loft' war nicht neben der Markuskirche, sondern ungefähr 10 Minuten davon entfernt in einer Altstadtgasse. Entgegen der von Grazia veröffentlichten Bilder, die Ausblick suggerieren, war das ganze ebenerdig, mit stark vergitterten Fenstern, praktisch ohne Frischluft und Tageslicht, mit ständig pilgerndem Touristenstrom vor dem Fenster und dementsprechend laut. Ich weiß nicht wann diese Fotos gemacht wurden, aber die Möbel waren keinesfalls so. Das zweite 'Doppelbett war keins, sondern ein Sofa mit 2. Matratze ohne Verbindung darunter, 180 cm lang und 80 cm breit, für einen normalen Mann nicht sehr komfortabel. Eine nachträglich eingebaute Klimaanlage über dem Bett war völlig ineffektiv. Alle Möbel waren stark angeschlagen, der Putz war an verschiedenen Stellen großflächig von der Wand gefallen, überall klebten erschlagene Insekten an den Wänden und Decken, im Bad fehlten Fliesen, der an der Wand befestigte Fön war halb abgerissen, die Duschtür hing nicht in der Laufschiene und war nicht richtig zu schließen, 1 cm Klopaper auf der Rolle sollte den 4-Tagesvorrat darstellen. Dazu war alles sehr dreckig. Eine Handvoll in die Schublade geworfenes teilweise defektes Besteck (Messer ohne Griff etc.) war so verdreckt, dass es uns anekelte, bereitgelegte Handtücher waren nicht sauber, die Dusche schimmlig und schmutzig. In den Schubladen befanden sich noch Dinge von den Vormietern, unter anderem Wechselgeld, daran sieht man wohl am deutlichsten, dass dort nicht geputzt wurde. Dazu hat sich herausgestellt, daß hinter meinem Gitterfenster auf der Rückseite eine Baustelle war, ich wurde morgens vom Baulärm geweckt. Als ich kurz rausgesehen habe, haben nicht nur einige Bauarbeiter zurückgegafft, es kam auch ein fürchterlicher Gestank herein. Wir haben vermutet, daß da irgendwelche Abflüsse weggerissen wurden. Wir haben dann erfahren, dass diese Wohnung eigentlich alles andere als 'privat' ist, das ganze Haus besteht aus solchen Apartments, in denen die Touristen abgezockt werden. Alles in allem ganz sicher nicht zu empfehlen, ich war zutiefst enttäuscht. Selbst wenn man bei diesen alten, der ständigen Feuchtigkeit ausgesetzten Häusern in Venedig und der Mittelmehrmentalität bereit ist Abstriche zu machen....das ist Nepp und auf keinen Fall den Preis wert.
