The Appartment itself is a nice on in the basement of an old brownstone house in Harlem. The location is very nice, being close to the 125th street and with everything you need around the corner. We enjoyed our stay there, although we had some not so nice experiences: On the first morning I discovered a cockroach in the bathtub, although the appartment was clean. Anyway. I removed it and I never saw another one again. During the time we stayed in the appartment a Blizzard was passing by NEw York and exactly at that night the heating stopped working. Bill, the building manager (very nice guy!) told us, that the whole building is without heating at that someone will take care of it. So we cuddled one frosty night and the day after the heating worked again. Again: Given the age of the house and the harsh weather conditions this might happen. Something that really annoyed me was that the heating made some loud noises, which woke me up in the middle of the night sometimes.
But nevertheless, the nice location, the very friendly host and neighbors still make this a worth stay.
Had a great time staying at Chris' studio apartment. The place was cozy and had plenty of room for 2 people. Getting around was simple with nearby subway stops and Harlem was pleasantly quiet after coming back from a busy mid-town. The experience was lovely and Chris was a wonderful host.
We loved everything about our stay in Chris' studio. Chris is a caring host, the studio is very comfy and with great detail decorated! If you have time to spare he has a little library with beautiful books :-) The studio is just a block from the Subway. And Harlem..... We loved it!!! We would definitly stay here again!
Very nice place! Quiet street, nice breakfast cafe around the corner, Red Rooster jazz club and restaurant two streets, a three minute walk Subway. The accommodation was perfect for us to explore NYC. Gabi and Christian
Sehr netter Platz!
Chris is a very good host! He does his best to meet you personally, gives an answer to every question and has some good advice about must see's, places to visit and the neighbourhood. Harlem is a very charming upcoming neghbourhood with a lot of nice restaurants and bars and very friendly people living there.
The appartment is cosy, spatious and in very good shape.
We had a wonderful stay here in a beautiful area of Harlem, brown stone houses, tree lined streets. The apartment is great and only a short walk to Central park, and many other things to see in Harlem, ate at some great local restaurants like social corner and Chez Lucienne. Chris is a fantastic host and provided everything we needed. The apartment is very comfortable and beats staying in a hotel room. Thanks Chris
Chris was a very nice host. The apartment is quiet, yet you are quick with the subway downtown. It was all very clean. We can absolutely recommend the apartment.
Chris war ein sehr netter Gastgeber. Das Appartement liegt ruhig, aber trotzdem ist man mit der Subway schnell in Downtown. Es war alles sehr sauber. Wir können das Appartement absolut weiter empfehlen.
We have had a wonderful stay at the appartment of Chris. It is situated in a very upcoming part of Harlem. The neighbourhood felt more than save and provided a quiet get-away from the very lively city downtown. Nice restaurants just around the corner (Il Cafe Latte, Corner Social, The Red Rooster, Sylvia's). The place and atmosphere felt like "home" and like really being a part of NY. Christopher is a very friendly host and the owner of the building, Bill, is also a very nice guy. We have had a great conversation with him about the history of the neigbourhood and the people that live there. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for an authentic stay in New York, in a very nice area, only a few minutes walk to the subway to get you anywhere you want downtown.
We absolutely loved our two week stay in Harlem, NY.
There are nice restaurants in the neighbourhood and it's really close to the subway station. Also, it's walking distance from the Apollo Theater where you can go to Amateur Night every Wednesday: totally worth it!
Chris was not there when we arrived, but Bill took care of us really well!
The studio is situated in a very quiet and residential street and block of Harlem.
The basement studio, set in a five-story brownstone rowhouse, has a private entrance ( a few steps downwards). The apartment is nice decorated with personality and respect for the character of the house. Between the Apollo theatre ( don't miss the night of the amateurs on wednesday) and the free open air swimming pool in Central Park. Close by supermarkets, restaurants, meals on wheels, coffee bars. Il caffe latte just around the corner serves excellent breakfast. Walking distance to the subway. A place to return !
