Hi, I am an English guy who has been living in Barcelona for 14 years and am fluent in Spanish. I have been busily and successfully hosting in Wimdu for over two years now. Cleanliness and good host service are very important to me and part of my flats´ popularity.
I have available a ground floor flat 100 metres from the best part of Barceloneta beach in a very quiet street behind the seafront but still close to the city centre.
The location is amazing with a huge variety of traditional and modern restaurants, and beach and cocktail bars all within a five minute walk, most having sea or harbour views. There are excellent restaurants of all types but the area is also famed for the best seafood in the city. There is also the famous Barceloneta food market and lots of small supermarkets close to hand and open until late. The area is now busy all year also with the nearby Olimpic port with the Casino and restaurants and discos at beach level.
The flat has air-con, heating, wireless internet, and Wii with games. There is a great pull out double sofa bed in the lounge with partitioning curtains for privacy.
There is a baby's travel cot available and a child's buggy could be requested. There are also two foldable bikes with locks, free for your use and they can even be taken on public transport. Towels and bedlinen are included.
There is also a parking space in a private underground carpark subject to availability in the nearby Vila Olimpica. It is a 10 minute walk from the flat.
The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, fridge oven, washing machine, kettle and toaster, juicer etc. There is seating for five to eat.
The one bedroom flat is a traditional ground floor fisherman's house so access with bikes, pushchairs, rollerblades, surfboards even shopping etc is very convenient as there are no stairs or stairwells.
Being the busy beach area, the transport is excellent with a nearby Metro stop and a very frequent bus service. People often don't realise but Barcelona city centre is small and very quick and manageable by public transport.
Barceloneta is the new popular area to stay as it is still very central but much cleaner, cooler and quieter than the nearby old town. It is still in walking distance to the Gothic quarter, Borne and Ramblas area. You have the advantage of the clean sea-air, sand and quietness of the beachside but in a city context. It has also been targeted for a new mega yacht port in the coming years so is very up and coming.
The downtown and beach area are perfect for cycling especially being so flat and has become very popular now with lots of tourist bike hire companies .
For water enthusiasts, there is an amateur surf school and board hire right by the flat. There are also sailing schools and an olympic outdoor and indoor pools all very close.
I am English and have been living in Barcelona for 12 years and I have much experience renting apartments here. I intend to offer a professional yet relaxed service with a home from home feel, paying attention to the small details.
