Trendy Room in Center

L'appartement est idéalement situé. Je n'ai pas eu le plaisir de rencontrer Sven mais par contre, ses amis n'ont pas manqué de venir nous réveiller à 3 h du matin ! Des gens absolument odieux qui ont vidé le frigo, fumé, écouté de la musique et parlé fort en pleine nuit. Malgré notre protestation, il a fallu plus d'une heure pour qu'ils s'en aillent. J'ai appelé Sven dans la nuit mais suis tombée sur son répondeur. Il dormait le bienheureux ! Celui-ci ne m'a pas rappelé le lendemain… Dommage.

KEINESFALLS ZU EMPFEHLEN!!!!! Sowas habe ich noch nie erlebt... :-( Ich hatte hier für eine Nacht ein Zimmer mit einer Freundin zusammen gebucht. Der Gastgeber hatte uns einen Code geschickt, mit dem wir aus einem Safe den Türschlüssel holen sollten. Leider war dieser Safe leer, kein Schlüssel da. An der angegebenen Telefonnummer war niemeand zu erreichen. Nur durch die freundliche Hilfe einer Zahnarztpraxis in der Nähe und der Wimdu-hotline konnte nach sehr langer Zeit der Gastgeber endlich erreicht werden. Wir haben insgesamt fast 3 Stunden Zeit verloren, Stunden des Wartens in einer fremden Stadt mit schlechten Englisch und gar keinen nierderländisch-kenntnissen und der Sorge, wir müssten wieder ohne Zimmer abreisen. Aber das war erst der Anfang. Das Zimmer in dem wir übernachen sollen, war eigentlich ein größerer Wandschrank im Keller. Sämtliches Bettzeug war total verdreckt (große braune Flecken und richtige Staubwölchen überall dran), ungebügelt (wohl nicht ausgewechselt vom vorherigen Gast?), die Küche war ein Graus, so schmutzig, das Bad auch nicht gerade sauber, dort lief auch das Wasser nicht richtig ab (Toillette); Das Zimmer hatte auch leider keine funktionierende Lampe mehr, dafür gab uns Swen ein paar Christbaumkerzen. Ich kam mir vor wie in einem schlechten Film. Wir bekamen dann ein anderes Zimmer, aber das war nicht wirklich besser.... Der "Garten" ist ein Lagerplatz für Sperrmüll und gut gefüllte Müllsäcke, wirklich widerlich, als es dunkel wurde hörte ich Tiere (Ratten?) im Müll und gegen die Terassentüre springen (diese Türe ist das "Fenster" der Küche). Es war so kalt, dass wir mit Anorak in den Aufenthaltsräumen saßen. Es gab nirgens eine Heizung in den Zimmern, mein Thermometer zeigte am späten Vormittag 13 Grad (nachts war es also vielleicht noch kälter)!!!, ich konnte die ganze Nacht kaum schlafen, vor Kälte, meine Freundin war am Morgen total krank. Wenn ich mich nicht beschwert hätte, hätten wir auch zu zweit (!!) nur EINE Decke gehabt. Das Bett war völlig durchgelegen...wohl einige Jahrzehnte alt (?), darauf kann sicher niemand mehr bequem schlafen. Abgesehen, dass es kein richtiges Doppelbett war, sondern ein normales größeres Bett, das man in Deutschland sonst für eine Person nutzt, oder höchstens als Pärchen für eine Nacht. Ich habe nichts gefrühstückt, aber hätte ich gewollt, hätte es wohl nicht mehr für alle gereicht. So was habe ich noch nie erlebt. Unser Kurzurlaub war jedenfalls verdorben. Auf unsere Feedback-mail bekamen wir vom Gastgeber keine Antwort. ENGLISH: My friend and I stayed hier for one day: so here ist my little feedback: I never had a guest-night like this ever bevore: we got the code of the safe, but when we arrived, there wasn't any key. We were very very frightened, because, when we tryed to telephone the number we got, nobody answered. We allmost drived back to Germany without staying in Amsterdam. Then we found a woman in the nighbour's house, she tryed to help us. We had to find the number of wimdu, and to solve this problem with wimdus's help - in English (this is quite difficult for me without dictionary...). When we finally got the key, it was in the evening. We lost the half day of our first amsterdam-day with this troubles! The bed-sheed was full of spots, also the pillows and the blancet. We fist got only ONE blancet for TWO person... (we are not a couple!!). The bed (mattress) was so baggy, we could not sleep on it.The temperature in the room was 13 degree!!!!!!! On the morning, my friend was totaly ill. I could not sleep because I was so freezing. In the evening, I went to the citchen to make some hot tea, and there where some animals ( I think rats), jumping against the window in the citchen and jumping through the waste-bag next to the citchen-window. I was frightening and I sickend to it!! The citchen was extemly dirty, also the floor in the rooms. The toilette doesn't work as it should, the first day (water staying for houres..). The room we got fist was without light. We had to complain first, then we got the other room. This day was my birthday :-( We both were very depressed of all those troubles, it destroied our trip ------------------

+Es ist mal was anderes in einer so schönen Galerie zu übernachten. Die Gastgeber waren nett und haben gerne weitergeholfen. Es wurde täglich Brot, Wurst und Käse zum Frühstücken gebracht. Die Galerie liegt so ziemlich in der Stadtmitte d.h. man muss nicht mit der Straßenbahn fahren und kann somit Geld und Zeit sparen. +Die Zimmer sind leider extrem klein und es ist nicht wirklich sauber. Leider war im Badezimmer immer der Boden nass - vermutlich lag es daran, dass die Toilette undicht ist. Es hieß es wird behoben, doch leider ist nix passiert. Der Föhn war kaputt- beim Einschalten kamen Funken aus dem Föhn!! War eine schöne Zeit, Danke!

The room was OK but the window let a lot of fresh air coming inside... The bed was OK. The bathroom was so-so. The location was very convenient for my business trip. It is also an interesting concept to stay in a Art gallery.

We hebben een fijn verblijf gehad in Gallerie Pallas. Minpuntjes: geen schone handdoeken de tweede dag. Koffiebonen waren op, dus geen koffie voor alle gasten op de eerste dag. Tweede dag was er een reservoir vol van het koffieapparaat, nergens instructie te vinden. Schreeuwende vogel in de huiskamer Pluspuntjes: Netjes, gezellig ingericht. Geweldige loungeboot op de gracht, dubbele douche. Kamer was af te sluiten,

The apartment was fine, the perfect location for us as we were visiting a concert nearby. The apartment was clean, there was a little kitchen where we cooked our own breakfast in the morning. The bedroom was a little small, but overall great value for money.

this is a really nice place to stay, the location is nice in the area you can find many good restaurants, and there is a mac bike near by, you can rent a bike to go around. For breakfast you can cook it yourself as the kitchen is well furnished.

***Just before our trip we had an email saying that we were upgraded to Svens larger property ' Artistic Laurier Studio' so this review is about that studio ANDNOT 'trendy room in Center'** We were very exited to arrive in Amsterdam and stay in the Art gallery, Unfortunatley our first impression was not good. When we arrive we noticed there was marks and hair in the sheets, I called Sven who insisted they were clean, I disagreed so he told me to call the cleaner..I think he should have done this! I called the cleaner and , to be fair, she arrived quickly with new sheets and was very pleasant. Over the next few hours we noticed many things that we think should be improved about the studio to make the guests stay more pleasant, many of these were only small but when you keep finding another problem, and another, and another it starts to give a bad impression! For example: 1. The fridge contained half used products from the last guests - had it not been cleaned!? 2. The general standard of cleanliness was low, fridge not clean, high level dust everywhere etc 3. The table was VERY wobbly - it needs replacing immediatly ! 4. Our complimentary tea/coffee was 2 tea bags & 1 coffee satchet!, is this normal or had it not been replentished from the last guests? 5. There was absouloutly no where to hang any clothes..no wardrobe/rail/hook..nothing. 6. There was no kettle! 7. There was a coffee maker with an empty box of pods and no instructions to use! 8.There were knives and spoons but no forks! 9. There were no cereal bowls 10. 3 out of the 4 bulbs in the shower room were not working. 11. There was no iron/ironing board. 12. This room is advertised for 4 people , you should note that there is only one real bed and two air beds. 13.The TV is in an unusual position so that you can only watch it in bed, it would be much better if it were moved to the lounge area. 14. Worryingly the light switch in the shower room was inside getting splashed with water!, in the UK this is considered very dangerousand is against the law- I hope it was somehow sealed ! Please, I am not saying do not use this apartment, It could be a very unique and interesting experience, The art was good and a there was a bike we could use if we wished, The area is very nice also. We were also allowed a late check out which we appreciated. Many of the problems I mention can easily be solved but Sven needs to pay attention to detail, when guests pay to stay they expect a standard that, at the moment he is not achieving. I look with interest at future reviews, if these standards improve I would definatly recommend this studio, if they do not I would say there are many other places to choose to stay in Amsterdam.

Der Aufenthalt hier war eine sehr spezielle Erfahrung. :-) Wann wohnt man schon mal in einer Galerie?? Sehr schöne Räume und sehr gute Ausstattung inmitten der Kunst - und leicht zu erreichen. Leider gab es Probleme mit der Schlüsselübergabe (Sonntag), dafür lernten wir sehr nette Leute kennen, die vor und nach uns da waren. Bei problemloser Übergabe ist es perfekt für einen Trip nach Amsterdam.

This place has everything one needs for a relaxed stay in Amsterdam. Even though I had no idea about Amsterdam, Sven's discriptions made it easy for me to arrive, settle down and enjoy the city. The galery is very clean, fancy and features everything one needs; except, being on a business trip, it was hard for me to find a place to work with my notebook. Apart from that, its short distance to all the hot spots of Amsterdam make it perfect for cityhoppers and weekend visitors.
