MARY JANE'S ! (1000p ~$24) Nightly rate, like a Filipino Residence Inn, more like an American lake cabin than a hotel/motel. Filipino living in country setting (but only a short walk/ride to town (Loboc)) with banana and mango and papaya and coconut trees all around, and loose chickens ! It is 1 big room with a bunkbed with large matttress on the bottom and an option of either foam or inflatable mattress or a second bunkbed depending on the size of your party. It worked fine for our family of 6 (my wife and I and 2 year old (all in the big bed) and three teenagers sleeping separately, all of us on the bunkbeds) but it was a bit tight and that's about the max occupancy unless you are small Filipinos who don't mind two people in one single bunkbed... It has a nice front porch with a view of the river. Ideal for a romantic retreat...
This is the Best Location to stay in Bohol ! About 40 minutes away from the big city (Tagbilaran), and cooler on the river. Near many tourist sites, Busay Waterfalls, where the world famous Loboc Children's Choir is based and performs, Tarsier Sanctuary (the smallest monkey in the world, an endangered species only found there), Hanging Bridge, Man-Made Forest, a few Caves, near "Nuts Huts", and also not far from the Chocolate Hills. There are the famous floating restaurants nearby as well as other good places to eat and go for entertainment.
There are also cooking facilities in the house, as well as a nice TV and DVD player (which doubles as CD stereo with videoke capability). We set up a place to play badminton there too, and hammocks for relaxing in the shade of huge banana leaves.
The bathroom/rest room (Comfort Room) is nice, new, and tiled, and I am glad to say we have hot water for showering (this is something that pricey hotels often don't have here), and now has an AIR CONDITIONER ! (To use the AC costs a little extra though). We have good safe drinking water (delivered, in big bottles), and a normal functional flushing toilet like Americans expect, that you can sit on (you can't take these things for granted here), propane stove as well as an electric toaster oven (and of course fire cooking outside), and 110 V transformers for your shaver, rechargers, etc. if needed, also cooking utensils and glasses, plates, silverware, etc., and a big inflatable mattress, though if you need two beds they would be the foam kind; actually we just got a very nice 6 inch thick high quality foam mattress too.
We have a Kia Sportage with driver to help you get around (at as good or better rates than others) and, since there didn't seem to be any motorcycle rentals available in Loboc, we got one, so if you want to get around independently rather than going with a driver that's an option too.
MaryJane and and I are now back in the States, and unfortunately when we're gone the folks running the place aren't completely fluent in English. If you or someone with you speaks Cabuano/Tagalog that would be ideal, otherwise having a translation dictionary could be a good idea.
There is a gigantic cross up on a mountain nearby that they light up in white at night, this was a big attraction this Easter season, but any time you can go up by motorbike to see it and the awesome views from there. There is also a butterfly sanctuary (a football field sized netted enclosure where you can go inside with thousands of butterflies and moths in their habitat, it's amazing) and another one for other types of monkeys nearby...
Relax in Paradise ! Plan an extra day for other attractions/activities on the river, you can swim by the waterfalls, go inner tubing on "Mary Jane's Floating Donuts" and we also have a boat that you can pedal, and there's a fun rope swing on the shore...
Mary Jane's family and friends based there in Loboc, Bohol include capable travel planners/tour guides, a real estate agent, driver and transportation as well as other services available like laundry, food preparation, etc., they can bring you a genuine Filipino breakfast too if you like, and girls trained in massage and manicure/pedicure (they worked a miracle on my feet), another who can do cosmetics, and we can pretty much provide most anything a traveller there would need or want, though there would be some normal extra cost for these things. Also if you're interested just in touring the island we offer better rates than others advertising here...
We can pick you up at the Tagbilaran airport (or boat dock, there ar Jagna, etc., depending on where you're coming from) and help you plan your days, and provide transportation etc. and you won't have to worry about anything.
In the US you can leave a message at 1-800-485-3369, or e-mail works fine too. This is MaryJane's phone number and she is conversant in Tagalog & Cebuano. An e-mail reply-to response to this ad will come to me and that's OK too, I'll just show it to her if I can't read it.
Stay for a week or more to explore and experience this awesome island ! They say it has the best scuba diving in the world nearby in Panglao. And check out the brand new Extreme Adventure Park in Danao, it is an amazing place, they have a 1.5 KM "Suislide" zipline ride with a "Plunge" and lots more... (the last photos are MaryJane and I at the end of the Suislide ride, it was awesome) !
Even more, there is a brand new great zipline in Loboc just up the river from us a few minutes away from the house. We were just there this summer and it was awesome !
Just treat the place and MaryJane's family there respectfully, they'll do their best to make your stay care-free and enjoyable.
