Ideal for anyone looking forward to enjoy the well known Lisbon nightlife.
This apartment is a recently renovated studio, with a bathroom, a kitchenette with, refrigerator, tea kettle, and a ceramic hob.
It is a good apartment for one person, but have one extra bed and can perfectly accommodate a couple.
We provide bed linens and towels and they are included in the price.
The apartment is in a typical Portuguese street, between lively Bairro Alto and Santos in the neighborhood of São Bento. The Grand São Bento Palace it’s so pretty that even the Prime Minister lives next door! Also enjoy the "Estrela Basilica" or the botanical gardens just at front.
There is a supermarket, plus several restaurants and bars within a 5-minute walk.
Sao Bento is less than 15 minutes walking distance from Cais do Sodré Train Station. The Metro there provides access to central Lisbon in 10 minutes. Lisbon International Airport is 8 km away.
If you walk 10 minutes you´re at "Bairro Alto", known as one of the most attractive and picturesque areas of the Lisbon’s city center. At night, this 17th century colorful district is transformed into the city's vibrant nightlife quarter. The main streets and narrow passageways are bustling with activity of dozens of excellent traditional restaurants, «fado singing houses», cafés, and a multitude of sleek clubs and bars that stay open until late. In recent years, «Bairro Alto» is also an alternative shopping destination, for those looking for trendy design shops, art galleries and bookshops.
Bairro Alto, one of the Lisbon hippest and coolest place.
There are several buses and trams, and subway, 10 minutes away, although one can easily walk to the main points of the city. Five minutes walking is the heart of the glamorous and cosmopolitan city can still be felt in the Chiado, a place where the "new" and "old" live in harmony. Characterized by casual-chic atmosphere, with streets full of shops, fine restaurants, beautiful cobblestone, beautiful churches and timeless cafes, Chiado makes any visitor feel real Lisbon.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to (website hidden)ís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.

Reviews for this host's other properties
We do not recommend this room.
rather good location, famous bairo alto is 10-min-walk distant. Close to the Praça de Comercio y Rossio Train Station that take you to Sintra and Other out of Lisbon locations
Antonio welcome us nicely and give us a city map and good tourists advices. He was on time.
The bed for the couple is comfortable.
the cons :
the apartment was badly maintained. Layers of Wall paint fall down, shower doors don't shut properly.
The showers doors were broke and were very difficult to close.
No place to hold towels
The guard rail for the stairs upstair was like not safe at all, moving a lot, you're afraid to touch it because it can fall, take care if you wake up at night not to guide yourself with it in the dark.....
There were no window shutters so we were awaken by the day light
Carefull the appartment is fittable for a couple, not for 4 people. As the 3rd person would sleep on the very uncomfortable couch (the spring mattress hurt your back), and the 4th person would sleep on a extra poor mousse matress layed down the soil.
Despite the good looking kitchen, we were unable to cook as there weren't any cooking ustensils. no frying pan, no oven dishes, no proper saucepan. More we hadn't even a sponge to clean the used plates and glasses. We ask Antonio to at least give us a frying pan and a sponge. He never did it. So we were extremely dispapointed.
Our hosts were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Although the apartment was really small, we had a wonderful time in Lisboa. The location is fantastic.
We were recieved by a very friendly and helpful Antonio.
Good: The Apartment was spacefull and well equipped with bedsheets, towels etc.
Cheep taxi´s gets you to the old quarter for a mere 5 euros, but there are also some nice and very cheap restaurants in the neighbourhood.. The apartment had a nice terrasse with a fine view.
Not so good: The elevator made pretty much noise in the Apartment. HOwever, it was perhaps only 3-4 times at evening time. The kitchen was populated with hundreds of ants. There was a bad smell form the sewer in the refrigerator which we were unable to clean lacking a screwdriver.
The TV's reception had a red glow, but there were lot´s of channels, not that it mattered that much. The two metal tables on the terrasse was so crooked that it was dangerous putting cups or glasses on them. When we had lunch out there one day, we had to bring out the big round table form the living room.
By cleaning the sewer, killing the ants, a new TV-set, two new tables on the terrasse, you´ll have a very fine Apartment at a good Price.
nice appartment, good location :)
