Reviews for this host's other properties
I've been in apartment 1 week. It really is a delicious apartment. It has wooden floors and ceilings, which give it a cozy look.
It is in a very central area of Trastevere, and at the same time, being a courtyard, it is really quiet. No noise in the apartment and during the weekends.
The kitchen is fully equipped to prepare simple dishes, breakfast, etc. The bed was very comfortable us, even for large people may be small.
We were able to move walk everywhere without taking public transport. Another thing to evaluate is the cellar next to the door. A very nice place to have a beer, wine, etc. to return. You can also buy a bottle of wine for a drink at home.
The market in Piazza San Cosimato is very close and open daily. You can buy vegetables, cheeses, etc.
I can only say that we felt like home. Emanuela thanks!
Gracias Emanuela!
The apartment, which is really just a room with en-suite bathroom, located in the heart of Trastevere in a typical Italian courtyard. The advantage of the apartment is the mainly nocturnal tranquility and peace of mind. It's all there, what you need, where we used anything from the kitchen utensils as we eat are always gone. The apartment is at ground level and is very dark. Even during the day you can not do without all the lights that are present. At furniture we found a mix of tasty items and "well" before. Everything seemed a bit improvised, but since we were only 5 days there, did not bother. For a short break we would take the apartment again.
This is one of the WIMDU places where one is sorely tempted not to write too enthusiastically about, lest it is booked solid when you ever want to come back. The apartment is located in a very posh neighborhood of Northern Rome named Parioli (lots of embassies etc). No surprise that the quarter is packed with nice restaurants, shops and up market food stores etc.. Right across the street is an excellent pizza place called “La Parioli” that became our favorite. It is usually packed with Romans which is always a good sign (--> make a reservation, especially on weekends or eat well before 8 pm when the place starts to fill up). The many embassies also have the nice side effect that police is never far and I would rate Parioli one of the safest if not the safest and quietest neighborhood in central Rome. The great thing is that despite these obvious advantages, all the major sights of Rome are just a 30 minute walk away. A reasonably fit person can cross the Villa Borghese park (also great for running) and be on the Spanish steps in 25 minutes. If you don’t like walking, there is a direct bus to Termini station (Number 223) or trams number 3 and 19 within reasonable walking distance (600 m/yards).
The place itself is something very special and unique. It looks as if it was originally a janitor’s/caretaker’s/chauffeur’s apartment and is located in the inner courtyard of a classic Rome apartment block from the late 19th century. The best way to describe it is a free standing bungalow in the inner courtyard. It is only accessible by descending a stair, so it is decidedly not suitable for handicapped persons (but the owner points this out). If one opens all the shutters, the place is very light but the downside is that people have a clear view at you from the surrounding apartments. We were there in March but I would imagine that the place is also very cool during the stifling hot summer months. The furnishing is adequate, no-nonsense IKEA fare down to the brightly colored sheets. There is a small fully equipped kitchen (no oven) and a very small but sufficient fridge. To us, eating out quickly loses its appeal if you have to do it every day so it was nice to be able to occasionally make simple dishes like Spaghetti Aglio I Olio or cook some artichokes to be enjoyed with some wine after a long day of sightseeing. A particular PLUS for the place are three things that can –at least from our past experience- prove sore points in Italy. One: there is plenty of hot water for all occupants to have decent showers in the morning! Two and three: The heating system works in cold weather and the AC works in hot weather! The owner, Emanuela, is very helpful and will provide you with loads of useful information before you arrive. She also responds to e-mails and text messages within an hour at the most. Her assistant, Mauro, speaks good English and explained the workings of the place well. Our seven days have been an altogether memorable experience and we will definitely be back!
Hey, we write here only a short production & Cons list for a quick overview ...
- Great location, right in the middle and still quiet
- Many small cafes and restaurants in the surrounding area
- Clean room
- Comfortable bed
- Basic equipment available, such as hair dryer, pots, pans, salt, sugar, coffee, etc.
- No bus ticket needed, everything is within walking distance
Ok very clean for Italian standards, for German -
- A bit small for men from 1,85 m not recommended Bad,
Highly recommended is the La Prosciutteria on Via della Scala, only 8 doors down from the apartment, as well as the opposite location Pizzeria La Scaletta.
To drink in the morning a delicious espresso or cappuccino, you should proceed to the, neighborhood of Frankfurt at the corner cafe "Settimiano". Try the delicious croissants there :)
The road from the airport to the apartment takes a little longer, but is easy to make. On the plane we bought bus tickets for 4 euros per person and were taken by bus to Termini. From there we drove 4 stops by the blue metro line, which cost 1.50 Euro per person. 10- 15 minute walk and we were there. If you do not know exactly where they need long to ask for simple, all Italians were very friendly and helpful to us.
Marco, an employee of Emanuela, took us in reception, gave us the keys and explained everything. It is perfectly adequate if you call Marco on landing or 15 minutes before arriving at the apartment.
- Vatican 20 minutes
- Pantheon 20 minutes
- Campo di Fiori 10 minutes
- Colloseum 45 minutes
To get to the St. Peter's Basilica, you should hire the best one hour before the opening, ie at 8 clock.
When Vatikanischemuseum You should already be there two hours before.
We spent a day previously booked a tour of the museum for 46 Euros per person. The groups are admitted, so we have to queue 15 minutes and were after our tour of the museum and the Sistine Chapel go directly to St. Peter's Basilica without us hiring again.
We hope you have a nice stay just as we in Rome and wish you much fun
very good location.
The apartment was good and clean. The negative was the smell of damp and that there was no daylight.
Wonderful apartment with great charm in the perfect location in the heart of Trastevere. We got lots of valuable information of Emanuela lioness trip which was very helpful. Emanuelas assistant Mauro waited several hours to be able to hand over the key when our plane / taxi was delayed.
To receive a 10 would be a new / softer bed to make the difference.
We absolutely felt in love with Emanuela's place! Best choise for staying in Rome - Parioli is a beautiful district, well-located, not very touristic, with great places for dinner and breakfast nearby (We loved a lot our breakfasts with fresh croissants in Il Dodo (2 mins from flat - just cross the street, and dinner in La Pariolina - same located just at the opposite side of the street). The supermarket is also in walking distance.
The flat itself is just terrific. First of all, it is a real "villa" inside the house :) If you will go there you will understand what I mean :) Very tidy, spacious, full of light, 2 comfortable bedrooms (although we were 2 couples and 1 room had 2 separate beds we had a comfortable sleep for 3 nights). There are even windows in the ceiling which we loved a lot! The bathroom is spacious and clean, the kitchen is very comfortable and well-equipped.
Emanuela's assistant Mauro was very polite and was waiting for us when we were late due to the tough traffic in Rome (if you travel in the evening by car from the Southern part of Rome - estimate your staying in the traffic for at least 2 hours, as the flat is located just in the opposite part of Rome). Although we've found a free parking near the home next day we dropped off the car as it is almost impossible to drive it in Rome - better choose a scooter :D
Villa Borghese is just 20 mins walking, the city centre - 40 mins by foot or 15 mins by bus. We have chosen walking and enjoyed the beautiful streets of Rome.
We did not meet Emanuela herself, but she communicates with us very responsibly and she is very reliable, she gave us all directions and a lot of tips before our arrival to Rome, which we appreciate a lot.
Emanuela, thank you for everything! We enjoyed our stay and definitely next time in Rome will come back to your place!
Grazie mille and buona fortuna!
The apartment is in a fantastic place, in trevi, it's small and has facilities for short stays. There is only a narrow window that we keep covered with the blind because is on the street level.
