New pictures are up! There is a new bed and the room was just freshly painted, as seen in the first picture. The rest of the pictures were from before it was painted. A new patio set is also now in, but not pictured!
This offer is for private use of the master bedroom (approximately 18x14) in a two bedroom apartment in the East Village which is perfect for a single or couple, who want to stay in a clean apartment and experience living in a great neighborhood in NYC, all while saving a few bucks from pricey NYC hotels that are usually located in tourist trap areas.
It's very clean and has things no hotel can offer, like the outdoor patio right outside the bedroom! The building also has a 24 hour doorman / security, gym, laundry room and killer roof deck with views of NYC and its bridges.
This posting is for a private room in a shared apartment with myself (separate bedroom) and/or occasionally another traveler(s). There is a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a hot plate to do a little light cooking/heating up food, along with utensils and table ware and glasses. The bathroom is composed of shower, sink and toilet, very clean, shared with myself, when I'm around.
If you're the physical type, there is a gym (free) for your use in the basement of the building as well as a laundry room (coin operated), vending machines and ATM as well.
This neighborhood is very lively after the sun goes down. The East Village has been heavily built up over the last 5 years and located in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Manhattan. The East Village offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and a beautiful park. You can walk to Indian, Russian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Vegetarian and American restaurants within a 5 block radius. If you're too tired and beat up from touring NYC and don't feel like going anywhere, you can simply order in and have anything delivered to the room (usually until 11 pm or midnight). And these little privately owned restaurants are MUCH better than midtown/tourist-trap food chain places. There are at least three 24/h places to eat within 1 block.
This building is one of only a few in the neighborhood that has a doorman and an elevator. About 95% of the buildings in the area are walk-ups. Your "home away from home" will provide the NYC experience not soon forgotten: the spectacular panoramic view of NYC on the roof deck (elevator and outdoor furniture up there), a private outdoor patio with table and chairs, huge courtyard in middle of complex, about 100 restaurant/bars/cafes/shops within a 3 block radius and probably 500 within a 10 block radius. Enjoy a beautiful park (Tompkins Square) at the end of the block and an East River waterfront park about 4 streets/blocks to the east.
For an additional fee, I can serve as your personal tour guide (or recommend various other tour guides specific to certain areas of NYC as well as recommend the cool, not-in-the-guide-books places for nightlife or dinner).
For stays of more than 7 nights, a small deposit will be required pending on length of requested stay and cleaning charge of $25 every 7 days (paid directly to house cleaner). I'm sorry, but single night bookings will not be accepted unless they are within 7 days of arrival.
Linen will be clean when you arrive. If you wish to wash them while you are here, there is a laundry room in the basement to do it yourself. Towels will also be clean; used towels will be collected and washed every few days when needed. Continental breakfast is included in the rate. It’s made of juice, milk, coffee, tea, bread or bagels or cereal.

Bruce was a great host. Everything was perfect.
He gave us a lot of infomation about New York weeks before our stay there.
The appartment was clean and we were allowed to use everything we need, like salt, oil, honey, etc.
We just had to walk 8-10 minutes to subway station, where each attraction was accessible.
We recommend a stay at Bruce` appartment!
The apartment Bruce is perfectly situated in the lovely East Village, plenty of nice restaurants and bars to get some food / drink and all that literally around the corner. Metro is within walking distance and provides easy access to all hotspots. Metro is about 10-15min walk, alone with a nice walk along park and quaint shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Apartment is fine for his 2and, good bed, a table for breakfast and cozy to own fridge which is stocked on arrival with breakfast. Entire apartment is very clean! Shower is fine, and you share with the residents. In our case it seemed a private bathroom / home, because we are only at the Bruce and Cindy weggan bumped. However, they were constantly ready to give tips / advice if you wanted it. So we are, for example. Been to Union Square for the Christmas market, verruit the best in all of NY! All in all highly recommended and I would stay there again so when I go to NY!
Hele appartement is erg schoon!
A super great room and shower facilities. Bruce and Cindy were very gracious and hospitable. The area around the East Village is super cozy, with many fine restaurants, and there is easy access to the subway.
Et super godt værelse, og gode badefaciliteter. Bruce og Cindy var meget imødekommende og gæstfrie. Området omkring East Village er super hyggeligt, med mange fine restauranter, og der er let adgang til subway.
It was just the best at Bruce. He is just great, our stay was short, but he has given us all the information we needed. It was clean and very comfortable. We have felt very comfortable and would stay there again. The subway is about a 10 minute walk. Nearby restaurants and opportunities are to buy things. A very nice and safe environment. Thanks, Bruce
Danke, Bruce
Bruce was a very kind and helpful host. Location of the B&B in East village was great. We can only recommend to stay with Bruce.
Great stay at Bruce & Cyndi's in the fantastic East village.Easy reach of subway(about 10 min's walk) area full of every type of restaurant you could ever need seems safe enough at any time & its great to stay as part of the city instead of just being in an anonymous hotel.Would stay again no problem.
we stayed 14 days at Bruce's appartment and had a fantastic time. The room we had was very clean and homely. There was a small fridge, cable TV and WLAN. It perfectly fitted our needs and we felt straight at home. We could even sit outside and have a smoke and a glass of wine which is not that common in NY. Bruce and Cindy are fantastic hosts took time to talk to us and gave us excellent tips on were to eat in the neighbourhood. In short: good people that make you feel welcome. The appartment comes with a shared roof terrace which gives an incredible view of the NY skyline. The neighbourhood is secure and there are loads of good restaurants and bars. The underground is quite easy to reach so it's perfect to get to other burrows as well. All in all we can highly recommend a stay with Bruce and Cindy.
First I want to thank to Bruce and Cyndi by their attentions. They tried to provide us everything we needed.
We were all the time visiting the town, but the few time that we shared, they were very nice.
About the room, it was all what we need. It is clean and more than enough for 2 persons. May be that i missed a kitchen (as Spanish I like cook frequently), but there are a lot of place to eat in the zone, so it isn't really a problem, and Bruce has got an double hot plate where you can prepare something.
The building is great (2 lifts/elevators, gym, laundry) and the doormen, in special Bob, are friendly.
The zone is good and the weekend have a lot of revelry. There are some bus lines crossing it and they leave you in subway stations, so you can access to any place of the city easily.
In resume, it was a nice experience that we would like repeat.
To all who thinks in visit NY, Bruce's appartment is a nice option.
Our stay at Bruce's was definitely great! He kept in touch and sent us useful information before our arrival. The room was cosy, everything we needed was there. Whenever we had a question, Bruce was happy to help us. The neighbourhood is really wonderful, we think it's the best place to stay at in New York.
We had an excellent stay at Bruce's place. The room is very spacious and has plenty of room, the bed is very comfy and breakfast is included. It a 10 minute walk away from the subway; the neighbourhood seems to be safe around the clock, so no worries there. There are a lot of bars and restaurants nearby, so you won't be bored. The appartement features a nice rooftop view over Manhattan - buildings like the Empire state, the Crysler and the new Freedom tower are nicely visible.
Best of all, we really liked Bruce himself. He has loads to tell and tips about what to do (and what not) in NYC. He's really relaxed and down to earth. As we didn't know wether we'd get out of the city or not (due to an upcoming storm, which grounded a few hundred planes) Bruce offered us to stay for another night (without charge); as far I am concerned, he was the perfect host.
Highly advised :)
