Who was Perle Mesta you ask? She is defined in the footnotes below.
A very funny story how the name came to be!
A special friend of mine, Patrick, wrote an amazing ref. for me and this is what he called me and I thought that's it, we are naming the bnb The Perle mesta- " Hostess with the mostest"
This is my lovely 18th century ceritified historical home in the heart of Queens Village area of the city, bordering Penns Landing, and Society Hill. The looks of a post card, picture cobblestone streets , tree lined and historical homes. I was told I am The Perle Mesta of Philadelphia. Pa. I have lived in the city 20 years, and I have owned my home 13 years. I began restorations the first day I spent here, and they are still ongoing, My brother says by the time Im finished I will have to start over again, (he is so supportive, lol.,) he could be correct but the journey is wonderful!
There is no better place to be than Queen Village, the safest area, walking distance to Penns Landing , water front, to all of Philadelphia tourist sites and history. We have fantastic places to eat , the Italian market, Asian market, the infamous South street, Everything is here in Queens Village. It is very friendly with the locals. We love having visitors to our area. You will not be surprised to see horse drawn carriages passing the street with curious tourists from all over the world.
The home is very large, 12 ft cielings, the architecture exceptional , 4 5 ft high Wissahickon marble fireplaces. loads of Art and collectibles from of my travels all over the world. The bedrooms are clean , w/hardwood floors, a walk in closets private baths. The home is quiet and spacious , plenty of areas privacy. There is plenty to explore with more than 5500 sq. ft of living space, We have a wonderful solarium and 2 private courtyards and large garden is a walk in heaven with specialty trees and the birds sing till your hearts desire. As well I am in the process of installing an indoor heated endless pool and spa!!! plenty of parking! When noted that breakfast is served it will be served from 8 am to 10 am. There are a total of 5 bedrooms to choose from , please inquire for seperate prices of rooms.
Additionally for weekly stays, available is a carriage house apartment with one bedroom.. It was believed to be originally maids quarters.. Originally the first owner of the estate was a wealthy French Heiress in 1849. There was also and undergound horse stable which is now where a pool will be placed!
The estate has Nanny quarters as well and available for long term stays, please inquire for details.
You are welcome to use laundry.
other bedroom , 3rd floor, and kitchen are restricted areas. Parking ok
Bus trans on the corner!

This was a scary place to stay at. We called Rossa about 5 hours before arrival and she told us to call 20 minutes before we got there. She didn't answer so we had to wait, not sure if we had a place for the night.
Once we got in, no-one was there. Rossa wasn't sure which room we should use, as none of them had clean sheets, towels and airco such as was expected. We eventually got a room without sheets, and Rossa said her husband would set up the bed before the evening.
When we got back, there were some towels and sheets left on the bed, not installed. They had hair, blood and semen stains on them. According to Rossa, this was normal because of her washer. We tried to contact Wimdu but they never got back to us, and eventually refunded 25% of the price.
Overall Rossa was hard to reach, she never called back and we weren't able to relax at all during our 2-night stay. This is my first wimdu place, but out of 20 places I've stayed at with Airbnb, it is the dirtiest. No-one was at home during our 3-day stay, and no apology was ever offered.
Rossa was a very nice hostess. She provided us with everything we needed and the location of her house in Philadelphia is just perfect, within walking distance of the center! She has a cute little dog named Leopold.
We had a great stay in Philadelphia! The room is clean and located very centrally in downtown Philadelphia. Rossa is very friendly and gives good tips for exploring the city.
All the best, Lucas
Alles Gute, Lucas
A recommended accommodation. It is a very nice house and the owner welcomed us and treated well. It is clean, and the services exposed on the web are adjusted to reality.
Un alojamiento recomendable. Es una casa muy bonita y la propietaria nos acogió y trató muy bien. Está todo muy limpio, y los servicios que exponen en la web se ajustan a la realidad.
We had a great stay in Rossa. She was very friendly with us. The room was large and comfortable. Note that the house Rossa is well located for visiting Philadelphia, close to South Street and the historic district. In short, we recommend this address! :) And Thanks again to Rossa!

I was in Philly briefly but had an excellent stay. Rossa was accomodating and friendly, the room simple but clean. Terrific location also - a short walk to the city and near plenty of cafe's and shops. Recommended!
We (two guys from Germany, 23) spent three nights in Rossa's house. She is a very sincere person and was always eager to help us. We had some minor trouble with our suite, but everything worked out well! The house was clean and lively and downtown Philly is just a 20 minute walk away. We can definitely recommend a stay at Rossa's house. Greetings from Germany :)
Great stay in Philadelphia. The house was nicely located and we could rely on Rossa when something was missing. Good to know : the parking spot isn't free, you have to park in a free street nearby. The breakfast is just a coffee, so not really included. Apart from that, we really enjoyed!
