A weekend or two at a festival is now a staple of the summertime for millions across the UK. A host of events will spring up across the country this summer, from family oriented events to full on raves. Godiva
Now in its 18th year, Godiva Festival is one of the largest free music events in the UK. Taking over the War Memorial Park in Coventry, the three day event will feature performances from 90s legends Charlatans and Space.
T in the Park
Scotland’s premier music festival, T in the Park has been attracting the biggest names in music for years. This year’s festival will be headlined by Manchester indie legends The Stone Roses, Calvin Harris and rock veterans the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Sunfall
A brand new festival for 2016, Sunfall is a celebration of London’s underground electronic music scene. The festival will bring a strong lineup of artists from a range of genres – house, jazz, hip hop, techno, drum & bass and more – to Brixton’s Brockwell Park.
WOMAD
For more than 30 years, WOMAD has held festivals and cultural events around the world. Their annual gathering at Charlton Park in Wiltshire is a major event on the UK festival calendar, and the country’s prime showcase for world music.
Camp Bestival
The little sister of Bestival over on the Isle of Wight, Camp Bestival is a cheerful festival set in the gorgeous grounds of Lulworth Castle. The festival has a fantastic range of kids activities, coupled with performances from top artists including Fatboy Slim.
Three Choirs
Three Choirs is a full week of choral and orchestral performances, chamber music recitals, theatre and more. The festival rotates each year between Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester, where this year’s event will be held.
Boombap
Celebrating it’s fifth anniversary in 2016, Boombap is the UK’s only dedicated hip hop festival. The festival will see performances from both veterans and rising stars, alongside stalls selling records and streetwear, graffiti installations and much more.
Cloudspotting
Cloudspotting Music and Arts Festival is small gathering for a few hundred guests, bringing an exciting selection of performances and installations to a forested location in the north of England. The festival is alternative and family oriented.
Lovebox
London’s seminal electronic music festival is back for another year. Major Lazer will headline this year’s Lovebox. Other performances include festival veterans LCD Soundsystem and hip hop supergroup Run the Jewels.

Boom Town Fair
One of the season’s liveliest events, Boomtown Fair will see an incredible range of music – from ska to techno – at Winchester’s Matterley Bowl. Boomtown is themed as a city, with various ‘districts’ focused on different types of performance.
Green Man
The mystical mountains of Brecon Beacons in Wales are home to this varied festival for one weekend in August. A stellar lineup of music and spoken word performances complete the Green Man experience.
V Festival
One of the heavyweight UK music festivals, V brings a typically huge line up to it’s dual locations again this year. Headed up this year by Justin Bieber and top singer-songwriter Sia, the festival will also feature a performance from dance legends Faithless.
Arctangent
A relative newcomer to the festival scene, Arctangent is now in its fourth and growing strong. The lineup is a who’s who of alternative rock bands from across the world, led by post rockers Godspeed you Black Emperor.
Boardmasters
Cornwall’s annual celebration of all things surf comes with a packed programme of events. Fistral Beach will host a competition featuring the biggest names in surfing, while nearby Watergate Bay is the location of the music arena.
Creamfields
One of Britain’s seminal Dance festivals, Creamfields has grown into a global brand with events and music releases around the world. The festival just keeps on getting better with an incredible lineup of big name DJs augmented by lasers, fireworks and more stunning visual displays.
Reading & Leeds
The twin festivals at Reading’s Richfield Avenue and Bramham Park in Leeds have been a staple of the UK summertime since the 1970s. This year’s lineup brings the usual array of household names and young upstarts to its multitude of stages.
Tadstock
Tadstock is a non-profit gathering, focused on fun and community development. Tadstock’s lineup, as well as the entire organisation, is focused on young people and the development of new careers and skills.
Beautiful Days
Organised by rock legends The Levellers, Beautiful Days has won multiple awards, including the Grass Roots Festival Award in 2015. This year will see a variety of musical acts, from punk to drum and bass.
SW4
Another of London’s top electronic events, South West 4 brings a huge lineup of DJs and performers to Clapham Common. As the name suggests, the festival is spread over 4 stages, each focused on a different genre.
Shambala
This 4 day festival is rapidly making a name for itself across the UK. Visitors are encouraged to participate in activities at Shambala, which is ethically focused and has a massive variety of performances and workshops. The festival takes place at an undisclosed location in the Northamptonshire countryside.
