La Croix Jean Claude Restaurant in the heart of the village opened its doors in 1938 when the resort opened it’s first ski lift, which makes it one of the oldest businesses in the Meribel Valley! The wide selection of French wine available should definitely be tried and ranges from a locally produced dry white wine to a refreshing sparkling Chardonnay. Order a delicious Raclette, or try the local smoked meats and sausages. For those who want a little taste of home, the La Tsaretta Restaurant in Les Allues is geared up for British tourists and can pour you an Emperor Penguin Ale, the only hand-pulled British bitter you’ll taste in the valley. If you opt for self-catering accommodation then you can always stay in with a nice bottle of wine and cook in your apartment or chalet.

The Rhône-Alpes Region is situated between Paris and the Côte d’Azur, within a short distance to the Swiss and Italian borders. Les Allues boasts easy access to two international airports in Lyon and Geneva, and the area has impressive train connections and an excellent motorway network. The region has a huge diversity of landscapes with many picturesque lakes, famous Mont Blanc, and fascinating cities such as the culinary gem of the region, Lyon.

Getting Around

The famous resorts town of Grenoble which hosted the 1968 Olympic Winter Games is located one hours’ drive away and features an international airport. Geneva is about 150 kilometres to the north, whilst Lyon is just 180 kilometres to the west. The closest airport, Chambéry Airport, is just a one-hour drive away and is served from the UK by British Airways and Flybe. It is more likely that you will arrive from Grenoble Airport which receives a higher volume of international flights, hosting low-cost companies including EasyJet and Ryanair. For more flight options, Geneva and Lyon are both just a 2 hour journey away by car. Airport transfers can be arranged via various companies for varying budgets. The area has a great train network, and trains from Paris offer regular connections to Chambéry. You should look for accommodation close to where you will be spending most of your time to avoid going
